1W 532nm from auction.

Recently I picked up from auction this 1W 532nm module. Seller marked it as “For parts or not working” and in description was written that it gives very low power. “8mw” seller has good ratings so it was more likely a 1W unit before it died. Even if it can’t be repaired, it has a host diode and driver for future projects.

It’s “Class 4 Laser product” this means more than 500mw.

Price: $60USD
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Laser-Diode...53.m2749.l2649

I looked through some sites and found that it’s old CNI host (or maybe it is). And Laserlands are selling 473nm units in these hosts.

I think that is a good deal cause pump diode and driver are fully functional.

I will be posting a results when I will receive unit. Your help will be appreciated as I’m planning to repair the unit. :)

Your opinions and expectations are welcome :thanks:

New to the party (California)

Hello all!

My name is Trevor, 30 years old from Folsom (Northern California).

Have been a long-time lurker on the forums, but recently acquired my first high-power laser and felt like I was overdue to introduce myself.

Have always been fascinated by lasers, but only really began really playing within them about a year ago. After a fair bit of research I ended up purchasing a small 150mw 535nm. Although fun to play with, it really didn't scratch the itch I'd received from reading forum posts and checking out pictures in the enchanted beam thread. I wanted more.

Bit the bullet and ordered a Sanwu 7w 455nm w/ G7 Lens and x3 beam expander. Arrived yesterday which was perfect, considering the two sets of eagle pair glasses I also ordered had only just arrived on Monday. Glad I didn't have to test my patience/self discipline.

Waited late enough (2:30 AM) to feel comfortable doing a quick video with the laser mounted in the garage, focused on the neighbors (wet) fence across the street so I could quickly walk the beam without worrying too much someone would walk outside. My fun was cut short when I was scared inside by the police helicopter who just happened to fly over as I was walking back. Glad I resisted the urge to point this thing to the stars!

sorry about the vertical-video :P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afiIQCX0yRE

Was very impressed the beam intensity and divergence. Still need to play with the focal adjustment and beam expander, but it's obvious that this is a high-quality laser with A-LOT of power behind it. Definitely not a toy!

Looking forward to chatting with you folks as I learn more about this great hobby

Cheers!

Put that waste-heat to use!

Red Oclaro 700mW Dimmed @ 1.25A boost

Hi, I bought 2 Oclaro 700mW diodes off ebay
I put them in a 1.25A boost driver host. Both the times I made them (2 diff lasers) both times the laser turns on bright but then dims to very low.
I dont know what I am doing wrong, I purchased JAD kit from well known member, so all I can go wrong is in either the diode pressing, or soldering leads.
I am putting in a single 3.7V battery 18650 I believe.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

... the Department of Defense, being led by his former employer, the Missile Defense Agency. “They are developing a very high power laser, capable of being carried on a high-flying UAV, intended to target missiles during their boost phase,” he said

”This laser would deliver more than 500 kW and have a range of hundreds of miles. The first step in this endeavor will be a competition to develop a low power demonstration laser to explore beam control and tracking at altitude.”

Making My Own Laser Costume - Advice Appreciated!

Hi everyone,

I am trying to make a laser costume with the basic idea like in this photo.

I would like to buy the raw materials, diode and driver and battery pack. I am going to install a controller like arduino so I can manipulate the sequences and add a few switches, perhaps later add an accelerometer to change the sequence due to movement.

My question is what strength of diode should I be purchasing? I saw anywhere from 5mw to 50mw. I want it bright but not overkill or dangerous. I don't plan on wearing this in crowded places.

I am looking to buying the diodes and drivers anywhere specific I should check besides amazon or ebay?

I have one diode I am considering using, but it has no marking and don't know how to tell which mW rating it has.:thanks::thanks:

Thanks!

My Real 488nm Sharp Diode Build

I finally found enough time to put together this thread showing my <488nm Sharp diode EDC build. I used a host I got from Rich, Lifetime17, which had an ML501P73 diode in it. It has a Nano Boost driver set at 275 mA in a copper module. As can be seen by the first photograph, it is in a copper heat sink. I measured the wavelength of this laser after it had been running for 30 seconds. At that time it still measured just under 488nm

Here is a beam shot of it at the TV while it was on.

Same beam shot at the TV while it was off.

Here is a beam shot with the beam coming at an angle, but toward the view.

And lastly, but far more importantly, the splash the camera caught. This was not at all what the dot looked like to me. The camera caught this with no flash on the camera. You can also see the refection of the beam to the right on objects that one would not normally see either.

I wanted everyone to see this last picture as it shows what the camera's sensor caught, but wasn't actually there to be seen by myself. :thanks: for having a look.

the burning lasers are still produced?

Hello everyone, a while ago I bought a laser 301 in which there was written in the description that burned .. I do not understand much, when I got the laser, I noticed that it was different from the one in the picture, had no label warning, you unscrewed the front part differently and you could not focus .. was similar but different ... (then I broke after 5 minutes) ... now I just got a "303 laser". It was written that this also had to burn, but that does not even do anything, it does not feel just heat ... but I still see videos of 1/2 years ago of people with lasers 301 and 303 burning matches, balloons, scotch etc. I would like to know if those who burn no longer exist, or because those I buy do not burn even though there is written .. help haha, sorry for my bad English :cryyy:

Hello everyone, I'm an Italian guy who has been interested in lasers for a while, using them without precaution as a stupid :can:, only now I understand that they are not to be taken as a game ... I'll go and see the operation and above all the preacuctions to be taken with the various lasers, I hope to get to know the forum better: D

Selling some extra material that I no longer need

1. X-Drive 2.4A V6 Driver unused $25
2. C6 host with 12mm module heat sink and focus knob $25 x3 available
3. C3 silver host with press in diode host $25

EDIT: added an item
4. Red 501B JAD Kit with a black heat sink, 1.25A boost, I tried making this laser however I made a mistake and connected it to a oclaro 700mW red diode, which I was not suppose to use with boost driver, so I ended up damaging the diode, and I do not know where to use a 1.25A boost, therefore I am selling it. Asking $50 or best offer I forgot how much I paid for it.

hi all, new to the forum

for my dissertation im building a photolitography machine (microchip patterning) with a free moving 405nm laser diode and i need to focuss it into the absolute smallest spot. Ive been looking into lenses, ball lenses and fibre coupling it myself. Anyone have any ideas for the best way to achieve the smallest spot size ?

Thanks in advance

Also, anyone know of U.K. supliers that have 405nm laser diodes that dont cost an insane ammount ? working on a bit of a budget and the suppliers from china ive found have very long delivery times, even paying extra.

Started with the 505, a 532, and (I think) a 515...could be 510 or 520 - I got some mixed up :wtf:

HAD to add the 490 - since there is so much green/blue talk going on regarding it...and it's awesome/new

Sanwu 488nm G7 Pocket Laser Review

Hi All:

Gazen suggested that I also post my review here. My Sanwu 488 nm G7 Pocket Laser arrived late Thursday, and I’d like to make it the subject of my first LPF review. I apologize for the less than stellar photo quality. I used my iPhone 5S camera, as I had trouble setting up my Canon T3/1100B. They're not the best image quality, but the color is pretty accurate. I'm sure the next review will have the HD imaging that this laser deserves.

It arrived sealed in a Static Shielding Bag which was packaged inside two additional padded shipping bags. The host was pristine and, like all Sanwu Pocket Lasers, is made from virtually seamless stainless steel. The laser’s recorded wavelength, as measured by Sanwu, is 488 nm.

Freshly charged EBL 10440 3.7 V 350 mAh Li-ion batteries were used for all tests and measurements.

The beam is bright with tight collimation, and the spot is a clean circle. Its color is gorgeous sky blue, without any trace of green. It is clearly visible indoors, even with the interior lighting on.

Optical Power was measured by a Lasersbee AX3 LPM over 45 second periods in order to remain within the laser’s recommended duty cycle. Peak Power measurements averaged 47 mW using the factory installed G7 lens that I requested. The laser felt a little warm at the end of each 45 second period, but never hot to the touch.

Overall I’m impressed with this very nice addition to Sanwu’s Pocket Laser series. As many of you have already stated, this WL is particularly beautiful and unique, and I’m very happy to add it to my laser collection. Thank you for your time and interest. Please Be Well and Take Care. :D

Iv'e been watching this "MeTV" channel and it's been showing some oldies from our youth:cryyy:

Anyway's "Land Of The Giant's" just started a few months ago:) and loving it:shhh:
The huge props and filming actually looks pretty good for 70's tech, except for a few times when it only took 4 little people at 6" tall to pick up a 38 revolver which i'm guessing would be 50,000 lbs to them.

Now though supposedly these little people see better at night than the giant's do. In theory would it be true or opposite?:o

Hah! Unfortunately it broke the first day so I had to send it back and get a different brand so hopefully when the replacement shows up it’ll be better. The fog machine itself wasn’t broke, it just had a crack in the copper tube causing the fog juice to spray out everytime the pump would kick on.
Anyways here you go :)

hi guys, 2 weeks ago I bought a laser 303 Chinese that is quite fun ... I know it's Chinese, but when I bought it I was not yet registered in the forum, but now I would like an advice, even being a neophyte of this world, can I buy a laser more powerful than a simple green 303? ... :undecided: in this matter I am still stupid and naive ahah :)
