G-2 Collimator Lens Mishap ?

I had this happen just now and I'm thinking there is likely only one cause, Some sort of contamination somehow got on the lens and got fried which cracked the lens ???

It's a DTR G-2 and luckily I have a few of them on hand, Anyone come across this before ???
