Welp, she won’t make the Obituaries... but I killed a nice diode. I finally got time to sit down and put all of this together. All was going AWESOME!! I was so careful. And then a fatal mistake put this diode’s dick in the dirt:(
Continue below.

Excuse my ramble....
This driver is an x-switch 320mA fixed; the last Flaminpyro had in fact. Originally, I purchased a Mit LPC840 from Paul.
I soldered some designated contact springs to the driver. X switch is configured case pos when the switch is active. So I had to isolate the module eventually.

Wired it all up in series and...LED. Can’t think of where I went wrong...I was grounded...but it was dead.
Paul asked me if I have a test load. My answer was a regrettable, no. He said it would be a good idea to test the current of the driver to be sure it was “320mA” and not the 1A version. Since I’ve been meaning to buy on... Immediately, I do.
4 weeks pass and test load arrived. Paul helps me with the last little noggin-scratch I had on understanding the testload’s simulation.
I wire her up...she puts out 323mV...alrighty.
So, something I did must’ve killed it.

- - While I was waiting on the test load, I went ahead and bought another red diode, an GGW Red.

Today, I pressed the diode into the module and proceeded to assemble the pen.

The x switch driver will not fit into the leadlight driver plastic suspension. So I emprovised and made my own out of a dead hilighter marker...fit quite well!!
The GGW red fired right up with a beautiful, rich, 650nm ruby red.

As for the module’s isolation, I coated it with a very thin coat of clear and very hard epoxy.

Carefully lined it all up and packed it down the muzzle.

Took her outside to focus it...I wish I took a picture of this part :( it was great.

I got back inside to install the cap.

Vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
>THIS IS WHERE I KILLED IT<
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I didn’t press the module in quite far enough and the lens barrel just barely made contact with the cap.

Sound, TAPS bugle
