My first experience with 520nm (and mech mods)

Thanks to Ricker, I got my first direct diode green laser today. I've been around lasers in the lab/educational seting, but I'd never seen the green or 462-470nm blue diodes before.

First impression of it is that it seems to be pretty close to the green of a stoplight. Seems more pure green than 532nm side by side, but I'd say the difference is pretty small. The difference still pretty aparent to me. I don't know that I can pick a favorite green unless I look at an underdriven one towards the 510-515nm area.

Beam was awesome at night, but the mild multimode nature of the PLP520-B1 was still definitely aparent with some splash and some divergence when it hit the clouds. Not nearly as bad as most of the 445's I've experienced though.

I wasn't all that interested in direct diode green for reasons other than reliability, but I think I might like to put a single mode in a leadlight to use more frequently as a pointer.

Seeing one at a really high power must be really impressive, but I think I would still want a 532nm in Class 4 if I get to that point since I like beam quality.

As for the mech mod setup, I've never really paid attention to vape stuff, so I couldn't quite picture the size even though I knew the dimensions. Size turned out perfect for me though. I've loved the look of them since RedCowboy posted about the mech mod setups a few months ago, and I definitely still do. Maybe I'll make some builds in these eventually. I would, however, like to see copper, anodized, or more aggressively finned heatsinks in the future. It'd also be cool to see it bundled with drivers for a JAD (and mech mod) kit.

Photos were too blurry, so I'll reattempt soon.
